Protest at HMP Cardiff,
1st July at 3pm @HMP Cardiff Knox Road, Cardiff, CF24 0UG

Facebook event: www.facebook.com/events/276579582745822

Join this protest against IPP sentences and getting the IPP abolished retrospectively. This protest is also about the systematic abuse by a certain prison officer towards IPP prisoners at HMP Cardiff.

The Officer will be named and shamed on the day of protest. We demand his immediate sacking. This officer targets the vulnerable, especially those that suffer mental illness. If you know of an officer at HMP Cardiff or any other prison in the U.K. who is abusing their power in any way come along to the protest and name and shame them. They are getting away with murder.

Protest for IPPs at HMP Risley
8th July at 3pm @HMP Risley, Warrington Road, Risley, WA3 6 Warrington

Facebook Event: www.facebook.com/events/336599800093624

In 2005, Ian Hartley was sentenced to a 38-month prison sentence (tariff). He has ben inside now for 12 and a half years. For years there has been no end in sight for his sentence. Like thousands of other people on Indeterminate Sentences (IPP) across the UK, he has suffered from the despair of not knowing if or when he will be released. If prison is truly about rehabilitation how can anyone grow when they have no idea when their sentence ends?

Indeterminate sentences fly in the face of justice – join the protest.
Demand freedom for all IPPs immediately.

A Noise Demo for Charlie at HMP Peterborogh

Facebook event: www.facebook.com/events/575859686135904

23rd July at 5pm @HMP Peterborogh, Saville Road, Westwood, PE3 7P Peterborough

The fortnight of action against IPP sentences will end with a noisy protest on the anniversary of Charlie Nokes’s death at HMP Peterborough. She was an artist and a woman who lost eight and a half years to IPP before she died. In one of her last letters to a member of Smash IPP, she was so depressed she felt like she couldn’t paint or draw any more.

The BBC published an aritcle about her death earlier this year which includes examples of her art and some of her story: bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-39422550

In the fight against IPP we want to honor her memory – we felt her death deeply and dedicate this action to her.
